The decision to teach often comes with a tremendous amount of passion and commitment to improving the lives of others (complete strangers), coupled with low-to-moderate pay and around-the-clock hours. Support to our teachers from families and community members goes a long way throughout the year, in particular during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 5-9.
To kick off this week’s celebrations, #edchatRI will explore the many ways of saying thanks to teachers for their sacrifices and support for our children. We’ll scan our own relationships with teachers, from adolescence to now, and the countless acts of everyday teacher heroism that make us personally grateful. From there we’ll also explore aspirations for the future, as well as meaningful ways to shower teacher appreciations this week and beyond - individually, as a family, and as a school community.
Join us this Sunday, May 4th, at 8pm ET as our guest moderator, Jen Hetzel Silbert (@jhsilbert), founder of #Learning401, guides our exchange of favorite teacher stories, powerful learning moments, family/community supports, aspirations, and the many ways for saying thanks.
