As we begin the 2014-15 school year, all of the educators in Rhode Island are aware that we will be moving away from NECAP and into PARCC as the assessment to measure student proficiency in the areas of Math and ELA. Although the PARCC assessment is aligned to the curriculum that is being delivered in these content areas, it is a big shift from what NECAP offered, especially at the secondary level. The fact that it is aligned to CCSS and is measured multiple times throughout the year is one big shift, as well as the ultimate goal of the assessment being delivered online.
The question that now arises for all educators is what are we doing to prepare ourselves and our students for success. What tools and/or strategies are we using. What supports do we need either from the district or state level to help better prepare us all.
Join us Sunday night at 8 PM on #edchatri as we take a close look at this important shift in education and learn from each other what is working.
