In RI we are fortunate to have our Commissioner of Education join us on a regular basis during our weekly chats and this weekend we will be joined by even more members of the RI Department of Education as they have asked to utilize our weekly chat to reach out to many more in the field of education. This will be a tremendous opportunity for us to hear from those at the state level who have been directly involved in helping to bring Common Core curriculum and the PARCC assessment to our state. If you have any questions about what all of these changes in education will mean for you or our students or you have something you feel you can offer to this important discussion, then join us tonight at 8PM on #edchatri.
The following is a description for PARCC: The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) is a consortium of 18 states plus the District of Columbia working together to develop a common set of K-12 assessments in English and math anchored in what it takes to be ready for college and careers. These new K-12 assessments will build a pathway to college and career readiness by the end of high school, mark students’ progress toward this goal from 3rd grade up, and provide teachers with timely information to inform instruction and provide student support. The PARCC assessments will be ready for states to administer during the 2014-15 school year.(parcconline.org)
