It has been quite a year for #EdChatRI and education, in general, especially in the state of Rhode Island. We said goodbye to one of our biggest and longest participating members in Commissioner Gist and we wish her well.
This past year has also seen many more guest moderators, as many in education have seen the value and opportunity to reach out and collaborate with an already created and powerful PLN. This year we saw the following take their turn at moderating #EdChatRI:
There were of course others who joined us throughout the year, but this is a taste of all the amazing topics and educators/groups that have taken the opportunity to create and address topics of interest to them or our state as a whole. When Alan and I first started this over three years ago, this is exactly what we hoped for. We want our whole state and even others outside of our state to stay informed, be engaged and collaborate on improving education in Rhode Island.
Summer is here and #EdChatRI will be on break until the end of August, however when we come back, we hope to see all of this amazing collaboration and contributions to making "Lil Rhody" the biggest little state in the country, when it comes to leading education.
Have a great, relaxing summer. See you in 2015-16.
Blended learning is taking off across RI as more and more educators are leveraging the power of education technology to better personalize and differentiate instruction for students. More and more district leaders, principals and teachers are seeing blended learning as an opportunity and not just another initiative. Innovations like cloud based storage & touch screen mobile devices become incredibly powerful when they're partnered with national common core standards & competency based practices. The tools and resources are in no way perfect, and like everything in our complicated education space, it takes a lot of upfront work, but there is a palpable excitement around these new practices.
Join #EdChatRI this Sunday as we explore the current status of blended learning across the state of Rhode Island. Learn about the work that has been happening in West Warwick and at the RI Model School for blended learning. Learn about Fuse RI and how a cohort of 26 educator leaders from across the state are sharing their knowledge and training with leaders in 13 different Rhode Island districts and charters. From RIASP's new principal training to summer professional learning opportunities with Google & Digital Literacy.
The momentum is building and it's time to share out what's happening in #EdChatRI with the world on Twitter...this Sunday night at 8pm.
We are very excited to announce that this Sunday on #EdChatRI, we will be inviting Paul Solarz (@PaulSolarz) to guest moderate. Paul is the author of the recently released book Learn Like a Pirate. Click on the link to find out more about Paul's book and to learn more about the topic for Sunday night's chat.
Join Paul and the #EdChatRI crew Sunday night at 8pm as we all begin to wind down the school year.
